Founded in 2012, the mission of Topeka Cello Collective is to transform experiences of amateur cellists by music performed and to unite in a common goal of bringing joy to others through music.
Impact on the Community
Topeka Cello Collective provides a unique opportunity for young musicians to learn distinctive styles of music in an all-cello ensemble. In rehearsals and performances, students gain critical thinking skills, team building skills, express artistic ideas, and learn how to communicate them. As a result, students learn how to be leaders in their own communities.
TCC is a safe environment for students to make friends with others. Cellists also learn importance of beiing an ambassador of music. They perform outreach concerts in NOTO, at senior living communities, and Shawnee County Public Library, to name a few. Music is fun to play and should be fun to listen to. TCC creates pregrammatic concerts like Rockin’ the Jayhawk, Sounds of the Season. Dances & Marches, Peace, Love & Cello!, Musical Imagery, Cellos & Cinema.
Becoming a TCC Sponsor or Underwriter
TCC expanded its reach in the Topeka community by becoming a non-profit organization. Your sponsorship or underwriting helps provide scholarships for students in need and allows our ensembles to perform at public venues. Your support expands programmatic repertoire by being able to hire auxiliary musicians to enhance performances. This pushes young cellists to higher performance levels. Sponsorship creates educational opportunities for TCC members through master classes with professional cellists. This in turn, allows outreach to children and teens with financial challenges interested in learning the cello.
